The beauty that is Lake Bled

9 days, 8 nights, 1 hire car, and numerous small towns and cities and that’s just the beginning.

My reason for going to Slovenia was simple. I had been told that it was beautiful by a work mate and that I had to visit the lake. So that’s what I wanted to do.

We flew out on Wizzair (and I thought Ryanair was bad.) At least Ryanair has queues, this was shove everyone into one room and make them push out the door for a seat) and landed 2 and a half hours later in Ljubjana (pronounced like Lu/be/ana*) airport. The plan was to take our hire car and spend the first 7 days driving around Slovenia before ending up back in Ljubljana for the last few days before flying home the next Sunday. So into our little red Skoda we hopped ready to head to our first destination:

Lake Bled

It was about an hour drive from the airport to Lake Bled, and we arrived just in time to see the sun start to go down, but it made for a beautiful first sighting. The hotel we stayed at was about a 10minute drive from the lake, and had a very 60s feel to it (I’m talking orange walls and velvet like bed spread.)

I’m going to let the photos do the talking from now but even they don’t really do it justice.
