One of the things that drew us to our hostel was the tours they offered, so since we hadn’t really planned on going elsewhere in Montenegro we decided to do the “Big Montenegro tour”. A 13 hour tour of some of the sights of Montenegro.
First stop: Breakfast
Well really it was a quick photo stop and then breakfast but anyway. Breakfast the meal of champions, and a tour to show how they make pešut (dried ham) every vegetarians dream , though the smell of the smoke house did remind me of my dad (not odd he’s a butcher who smokes his own ham)
Second stop: Lovćen National Park/ Njegoš Mausoleum
Arrive at the National park, climb 460 steps to the top of the second highest peak in the area, and you reach the mausoleum and tomb of Vladika Petar II Petrović Njegoš. He wanted to be buried on the scone highest peak so that when a greater ruler then him came along they could be buried on the highest.
Third stop: Cetinje
Former capital, small town with different former embassies and the Presidential Palace.
Forth stop: Ostrog Monastery
The most disappointing stop of the day. I’ve seen photos of it so was really excited to visit, instead it was a construction site.
Fifth stop: Lake Skadar/ Rijeka Crnojevica
This was my favourite stop of the whole day and I didn’t even realise we were going to stop here. We also had. Very late lunch here. The others had fish while I had a selection (2 types) of cheese and olives.
By now the sun had set so unfortunately I have no photos but the last stop of the day was . The cheapest room on this island goes for 500€ per night and to lie on the beach next door if you’re not a guest will cost you 50€…
